LeCONEY, LESTER EDWARD, age

LeCONEY, LESTER EDWARD, age 89, of North Cape May passed away Saturday, November 4, 2017 at AtlantiCare Medical Center of Galloway Twp, NJ with his loving family by his side. Lester was born January 23, 1928 in Delanco, NJ; formerly lived in Philadelphia, PA & Riverside, NJ; but has been a Cape May area resident since 1962. He is the son of the late Thomas I and the late Charlotte (Hoffman) LeConey. Lester served his country in the US Navy during World War II, Korea, and with five tours of duty in Vietnam. He entered the service at 16 ½ years old, retiring after 23 years of service. Lester owned Les LeConey Plumbing & Heating and later worked as a “one man” maintenance department for the Borough of Cape May Point. He was a member of the DAV in Del Haven, enjoyed sitting by the ocean and the bay, watching the ferry come and go, and especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren. Lester was preceded in death by his daughter Patricia Ann LeConey, 16 siblings, his granddaughter Marla, and his grandson Tommy. He is survived by his wife Arlene (nee Berg) LeConey; his daughter Beatrice LeConey; his son Howard (Sandra) LeConey; and his daughter Lisa LeConey-Rea. Also surviving are his seven grandchildren: Theresa Klemovitch-Brennan, Howard (Denise) LeConey, Jr., Sandra (Seamus) McAtamney, Lauren & Ryan Dougherty, Michael & Lauren Cox, & Alexis Rea; 13 great grandchildren; and 2 great-great grandchildren. There will be a memorial service at 2:00 PM on Sunday, November 12, 2017 at the Evoy Funeral Home, 3218 Bayshore Rd, North Cape May, NJ 08204; where friends will be received from 1:00 to 2:00 PM.
