LAYTON, RICHARD P., age 67, of Villas, passed away peacefully Thursday, March 27, 2014 at Cape Regional Med. Center, with his family by his side. Richard was born in Salem County, NJ; was formerly of Carney’s Point, NJ; and has been a Cape May area resident since 1971. He was the owner/operator of Layton & Lofts Plumbing and Heating (later becoming Dick Layton Plumbing & Heating Inc.). Richard was a graduate of Clemson University and was a teacher for 25 years at Cape May County Technical High School. He was a volunteer fireman at Cape May Point, a Little League coach and coach of the Lady Hawks girl’s softball team at Tech, was a huge fan of the band “Bluebone” where he was their unofficial historian, and also known as “TBD”. The number one thing in Richards life was his love for family. He is survived by his wife of 4 years Mary Layton; his son Richard P (Sara) Layton; his daughter Heather (Thomas) Pilatsky; his brother Donald B Layton; grandson Bradley Layton Fleming; and his first wife and life-long friend Angel Layton. Also surviving is: his stepson Michael Baglione; stepdaughters: Sarah Otterstedt, Amy Baglione, & Abigail Baglione; and 7 step-grandchildren. There will be a Memorial Service at 1:00 PM on Saturday, April 5, 2014 at the Calvary Chapel, 596 Seashore Rd, Erma, NJ 08204. Interment will be private.
