LANDON, MARY LOU, age 85, died on October 7, 2011 after a series of health complications. According to her wishes, Mary Lous body was donated for research to a medical school in NJ. Mary Lou was born in Ithaca, N .Y. in November of 1925. She graduated from Ithaca High School and received a Journalism degree from Cornell University. Immediately following graduation, Mary Lou married her fellow Cornelian, and husband of close to 60 years, George Lewis (Pat) Landon. They mostly resided in the Philadelphia area. In addition to being a wife and mother, Mary Lou held various secretarial positions through the years. Her longest secretarial position was for the Corinthian Yacht Club of Cape May where she served for 50 years, retiring just a few years ago. Later in life, after summering in Cape May since 1955, Mary Lou and Pat moved to Cape May permanently. Whether it be in the ocean or the pool, swimming was her favorite physical activity. She enjoyed many activities as a member of CYCCM and the Beach Club of Cape May, including sailing, playing bridge and of course singing at some of the many gatherings she attended .Mary Lou will be remembered for her love of life and her spunk. Mary Lou was predeceased by her parents, Wilson M. and Mary Louise Barger, her brother and sister in law, J.D. and Bonnie Barger, and her husband George Lewis (Pat) Landon. She is survived by her son and daughter in law, Jonathan and Tracey Landon of Wilmington, DE and Cape May, NJ, her grandchildren, Kristen (Landon) Hilferty and her husband Josh Hilferty of Newark, DE., Jondavid Landon and his wife Whitney (Plaster) Landon of Annapolis, MD and Elizabeth Landon Of Wilmington, DE. She has nieces, nephews, grands and great grands, all living in CA. The newest addition to her family is Justice Noel Hilferty, Mary Lous first great grandchild born on the morning of October 7, just hours before Mary Lou went home to be with the Lord. A private life celebration luncheon will be held for family and close friends at The Lobster House in Cape May, NJ on November 5.
