KOKNAR, JEANNINE EWING

KOKNAR, JEANNINE EWING, 75, of Cape May Court House, passed away on Friday, December 27, 2013. She remains a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, nurse, and friend. She was a respected RN at Burdette Tomlin Memorial Hospital for over thirty years where she spent the majority of the time working in OB helping bring new life into this world. Jeannine’s wisdom and compassion knew no bounds and was patiently given to all who would receive it (and some who resisted) with a calm, delicate determination that gained her the love and respect from all who were privileged to know her. Jeannine was born in West Virginia on May 10, 1938 to Joseph and Margaret Ewing. Her convictions were apparent from an early age. Starting in her teens, she was an outspoken defender and organizer for the rights and dignity of all people. Some of her community service and volunteer work over the years included BTMH Auxiliary, American Red Cross, and passionately advocating for the BTMH Early Education Center. Since her retirement from Cape Regional Medical Center in 2003, Jeannine’s dedication to and respect for basic human rights manifested itself in her work for Volunteers In Medicine. As dedicated to community service as she was, it did not compare to the pride she had in being an unconditionally generous and devoted wife, mother, and “Nean” to her extensive friends and family. Jeannine is survived by her loving husband, Sezer, her four children Suzan (Ahmet), Kemal, Semra (Scott), Kevin (Brenda), five grandchildren, six step-grandchildren, and five step-great-grandchildren whom she loved with all her heart. Jeannine was the matriarch and foundation of our family and will be forever missed. A Gathering of family and friends will take place on Saturday, January 4, 2014 from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. at the Radzieta Funeral Home, 9 Hand Avenue, Cape May Court House with a Celebration of Jeannines Life beginning at 4:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, please donate to Volunteers In Medicine at www.vimcmc.org in tribute to her memory. Condolences at www.radzieta.com
