At age 17, with the start of World War 11, he joined the Coast Guard and received his basic training in Cape May, N.J. He became a chief petty officer on a LST and spent most of his time in the South Pacific. As a young man, Regis did many jobs including being a carpenter’s helper during the construction of Wildwood Catholic High School. His diligence, work ethic, and ability to work long hours led him to a job at Scrivani Buick. During his free time, he enjoyed golfing, playing cards with friends, horseback riding with his daughters and making improvements on the many homes that he and his wife shared together.
