KOFFLER, REGIS, of Wildwood

KOFFLER, REGIS, of Wildwood Crest, NJ at the age of 95, Regis Koffler, known to his family and friends as Whitey, passed away due to natural causes on August 27,2017 at Centra State Hospital in Freehold, N.J. Whitey was born on August 18,1922 and raised in Castle Shannon, Pittsburgh, P.A. with his four siblings and lots of extended family. Being a child during the Great Depression, he quickly learned the value of hard work and helping others. At age 17, with the start of World War 11, he joined the Coast Guard and received his basic training in Cape May, N.J. He became a chief petty officer on a LST and spent most of his time in the South Pacific. On leave, he met the love of his life, Rosemarie Huttger, and they married in May of 1946 right after he returned home from the war.
In 1949, with first born child, Elaine, in tow, they returned and settled in North Wildwood and eventually to Wildwood Crest where they made their home together for 67 years. As a young man, Regis did many jobs including being a carpenter’s helper during the construction of Wildwood Catholic High School. His diligence, work ethic, and ability to work long hours led him to a job at Scrivani Buick. There Whitey got to know everyone in Wildwood, working in the parts department, as a salesman, and eventually as a general manager. During his free time, he enjoyed golfing, playing cards with friends, horseback riding with his daughters and making improvements on the many homes that he and his wife shared together.
Whitey is preceded in death by his wife, Rosemarie, his parents, his four siblings: Vera, Bud, Tressa, and Billy along with many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends that he shared his life with.
He is survived by his daughters, Elaine (Ed),Beverly (Eric), grandchildren: Dan, Kurt, Kris and Mike, their wives and 6 beautiful great grandchildren.
His family and friends are invited to celebrate his life and to share their memories of him on
