KLUG, FRED W., 63

KLUG, FRED W., 63, of Cape May Court House passed away on Wednesday, June 21, 2017. A lifelong resident of Cape May County, Fred graduated from Middle Township High School in 1972. He worked as a heavy equipment operator for 33 years for FW Shawl & Sons of Marmora. Most recently, Fred worked at Utsch’s Marina in Cape May as the manager of the Bait and Tackle Shop. Fred was a life member of the Middle Twp. Ambulance Corps and over the years as an EMT held the positions of Chief and Assistant Chief at various times. He was a past member of the Volunteer Fire Company #1 of Middle Township; the Silver Spokes Motorcycle Club; Hobie Fleet 443, Townbank and was a board member of the Bayshore Sportsman’s Club, Villas. Fred’s many hobbies over the years included fishing & boating, gardening, riding his cycle and target shooting. His greatest passion was spending time with his grandson. He loved visiting “his boys” on the job site, hanging with “the Breakfast Club” on Saturday mornings at the marina and spending “serious fishing time” with his favorite fishing buddies. He enjoyed good conversation with all and loved pranking his family and friends. He is predeceased by his brother, Karl Klug and his sister, Barbara Klug. Fred is dearly missed by his loving family which includes his wife of 40 years, Deborah (nee Shaw); daughter, Kimberly Anne Klug; grandson, Jonathan Jacob Klug; his extended family, as well as his best four-legged friend, Sarah Lee. Fred’s memorial gathering will take place on Friday evening (June 30th) in the Spilker Funeral Home, 815 Washington St., Cape May from 6:30pm – 7:30pm with a time of sharing thoughts and memories offered by family and friends beginning at 7:30pm. Please dress casually. Fred being an advocate of gun safety, his family suggests in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to the Bayshore Sportsman’s Club, 315 Arizona Ave., Villas, NJ 08251 or to the Middle Township Ambulance Corps.
