KING, MARGARET “PEGGY” (Nee MATTHEWS), 84, of Cape May, departed this life and into the loving arms of God our heavenly Father on Wednesday, August 28, 2013 in the year of our Lord in the comfort of her home. Peggy was born on May 14, 1929 to George Clyde Matthews and Margaret Edna Coleman Matthews in Victor, NY. She was the third oldest of eight children. Peggy, as she was affectionately called began her education in Canandaigua, New York until her family moved to Baltimore, MD. She graduated high school in Baltimore. Peggy married David King on May 16, 1978. While they had no children of their own, they raised many nieces and nephews that are too many to name. Peggy also was a surrogate mother to her brother Danny when he was a baby. Peggy is predeceased by her husband, David King; her mother and father, George and Margaret Matthews; brothers, Joseph and Robert and sisters, Betty, Ann and Ruth. Peggy leaves to cherish her memories one brother, Daniel Matthews; two sisters-in-law, Virginia Matthews and Bernadette Matthews; thirty nieces and nephews; forty-one great nieces and nephews; thirty-seven great-great nieces and nephews and a host of relatives, cousins and friends. Peggy’s funeral will be conducted on Tuesday (Sept. 3rd) at 10:30AM at the Macedonia Baptist Church, corner of Lafayette and Franklin Sts., Cape May where there will be a viewing from 9AM -10:15AM. Interment will follow in the Cape May County Veterans Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions suggested to: Macedonia Baptist Church.
