KEEN, MICHAEL S., of Throop, PA, formerly of Philadelphia, passed away unexpectedly at his home. Michael was born March 7, 1947 in Philadelphia, the son of the late Harry A. and Marie Keen. He attended Father Judge High School in Philadelphia and was a veteran, a former member of the US Army, having served in Viet Nam from 1967 to 1968. He had a long and successful career as a firefighter for the city of Philadelphia, retiring with the rank of Lieutenant after 37 years of service. His last years of service with the fire department were spent as the high-rise code officer for center city and he was a familiar figure in downtown Philadelphia. He moved to Throop with his beloved wife Barbara (deceased) in 2009. He was an avid collector of vintage cars and model trains, and an avid sports enthusiast. Michael was a loving husband, brother, uncle and great-uncle. He will be greatly missed by his sister Betsy Meyer (Thomas), brother Bud Keen (Betty Jo), nieces Ann Marie Jordan (Rob), Jennifer McCarthy (Travis), Christina Dzurec (Alexi), and nephews Buddy, Patrick, and Danny Keen, and several great nieces and nephews. Graveside service will be held at Noon on Saturday, November 30, 2013 at St. Marys Cemetery, 1056 Seashore Road, Cold Spring, NJ 08204.
