JACOBS, FREDERICK PAUL, 82, of Cape May, NJ, passed away on Saturday, April 1, 2017. Born in Philadelphia, PA to the late Paul and Greta Sonnenberg Jacobs, he moved here 28 years ago from Philadelphia, PA. In Philadelphia, he owned Jacobs Heating and Air Conditioning. He attended the Seashore Community Church of the Nazarene and served in the U.S. Navy from 1952 to 1960.Fred was a member of the Cape Island Lodge #30 of the Free and Accepted Masons and of the Cape May Marlin Tuna Club. He was passionate about fishing. He was one of the best fishermen and was well-known for his knot tying. He looked forward to the Special Olympics Fishing Tournament each year.Fred was a unique, genuine man who was a mentor to many. He never had a bad word to say about anyone. He loved his family and met the love of his life, Barbara in 1988.Fred is survived by his wife of 24 years, Barbara; his children, Linda Jacobs, Diane Jacobs, Lori (John) Sockriter, Bill Hevener, and Holly (Troy) Perkins; his grandchildren, Ryan, Jordan, David, Noah, Jake, Audra, Madison, Paige, and Troy; and his great grandson, Kai.Memorial service will be held on Saturday, April 15, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at the Seashore Church of the Nazarene, 446 Seashore Road, Erma, NJ 08204, where visitation will begin at 9:30 a.m. Interment will be private.
