HIEMENZ, ROBERT F. “BOB”, 70, of Cape May passed away peacefully on Sunday morning, June 2, 2013 in the comfort of his home surrounded by his loving family. Bob has been a resident of Cape May since 1978 after moving here from Lancaster, PA. He is predeceased by his parents, John Henry and Mary (Bennawit) Hiemenz. Bob will be dearly missed by his family which includes: his wife, Carol; children, Brian Hiemenz, Christine Jarvis, Carrie Kenney (and Richard) and John “Jamie” (and Stephanie) Kenney; brothers, John Henry, II “Jack” (and Jo) Hiemenz, Donald (and Marge) Hiemenz and Terence (and Beth) Hiemenz and six grandchildren. He owned and operated R & J Electrical Service for over 32 years in the Cape May area retiring in 2010. In addition to numerous commercial contracts, R&J Electrical restored and updated many of the Cape May B&Bs. In 2001, Carol & Bob opened “Canal Toy Trains” a 900 square foot display in their outbuilding. Every December, people would visit from the tri-sate area to see “The Train Man’s” Christmas layout. He was featured in the Atlantic City Press and Cape May Magazine. His trains were also on display at the Villas Library. Bob also enjoyed fishing and crabbing, always catching the elusive fish or crab. His “crab soup” and “mussels in red sauce” were famous. Memorial service will be held on Friday (June 7th) at 4PM in the Spilker Funeral Home, 815 Washington St., Cape May where friends will be received from 3PM -4PM.
