HENDERSON, JOHN M., age 92, died on August 18, 2013 at the Shores in Ocean City, NJ. A former resident of South Dennis, NJ and Rosemont Pa., John had resided at the Shores since 2010. Born in Dundee, Scotland on 3/28/21, John was a graduate of Loughborough College in Leicestershire, England. He served in the British Army during W.W.II as Paratrooper and was an athlete in 1948 Summer Olympics in Track. In 1953, he married Mildred Bell with whom he shared 44 wonderful years of marriage until her death in 1997. They moved to the US in 1953. John was hired by Cigna Corp. (formerly know as INA) as a Special Agent. They resided in Rosemont, Pa. until his retirement in 1982 after a successful 25 year career with Cigna. John and Mildred moved to South Dennis, NJ where he started Henderson Insurance Agency which specialized in group health care coverage for small businesses. He was a former member of the Cape May County Chamber of Commerce, Avalon Yacht Club, Stone Harbor Lions Club and The Wetlands Institute. He loved to dance, especially at the Golden Inn on Big Band Weekends. John and Mildred would “take over the floor” and dance the Foxtrot, Tango, Cha Cha and Waltz. John was known as “perpetual motion” in his youth and loved riding his bicycle, walking on the beach and lap swimming at the local pool. John was a devoted husband and father. He loved people and was always ready to help others. He is survived by daughter, Diane and son-in-law, Dennis. Friends may visit from 5-7pm, Saturday, October 19th at the Golden Inn, 7849 Dune Drive in Avalon.
