HARRIS, JANE W.

HARRIS, JANE W., age 86, of Cape May, NJ & Wilmington, DE passed away peacefully Sunday, April 13, 2014, with her daughter by her side. Jane was born in Wilmington, DE and formerly of that city; before moving to the Cape May area in 1990. She is the daughter of the late Clarence & Elizabeth Wheeler. Jane was an OR Nurse at the Bridgeton Hospital for several years, before retiring to raise her children. After moving to Cape May, she became the owner/operator of Auntie Annes Pretzels. She was a member of the Alderskate United Methodist Church in Wilmington, DE and the Cape May United Methodist Church, Cape May, NJ. Jane was an active member of the Alderskate Circle Group and volunteered at church events. She belonged to the Red Hat Society, the Windsor Wonders Beach Group, volunteered with the Red Cross at the Coast Guard Base (for 20 over years), volunteered at: The Food Closet at Cape May Presbyterian Church, Meals on Wheels, life guard competition events, and was a Hospice volunteer. Janes favorite pastime was sitting on Windsor Beach with all the families that have become life-long friends. She also enjoyed puzzles, going to Tuesday breakfast with the Red Hatters, was an avid bridge player, loved traveling with Camille & Louise, and scuba diving on the Great Barrier Reef in Australia (at 65 years old) with Sue. Jane was preceded in death by her husband Edwin L Harris and her son William Henry Harris IV. She is survived by her daughter Allison Phillippe and her companion Richard Baudoux (The Scooper) of Wilmington, DE; her granddaughter Jessica Jane Phillippe; her brother Richard (Marcia) Wheeler; and many nieces & nephews. In Janes passing weve lost a wonderful mother, gammon, sister, aunt, and a great friend to many. She will be missed by all. There will be a funeral service at 11:00 AM on Thursday, April 24, 2014 at the Cape May United Methodist Church, 635 Washington St, Cape May, NJ 08204; where friends will be received from 10:30 to 11:00 AM. Interment will follow at Cold Spring Cemetery, 780 Seashore Rd, Cold Spring, NJ 08204.
