HAARDE. LOUELLA BELL

HAARDE, LOUELLA BELL, 93, of Willow Valley Lakes Manor, Willow Street, PA died on July 18, 2011 at her home. She was the widow of Frederick (Fred) W. Haarde. They were married in 1941 Born in Bellmead, near Altoona, PA, she was the daughter of Edgar Pierce and Myrtle Henshey Bell. At the age of 7, she moved to State College, PA. She graduated from State College High School and earned a B.S. from Penn State in the College of Health and Physical Education. She joined the Gamma Phi Beta sorority and remained active throughout her life. She began her teaching career in a secondary school in Meyersdale, PA., and also taught Special Education for Young Children. She was active in Girl Scouts and the Penn State Alumni Association. She and her husband lived in Loch Haven, PA for 16 years, then moved to Malvern, PA and remained there until they moved to Cape May Court House, NJ in 1983. In September 1988 relocated to Willow Street, PA. She was active in church activities at St. Pauls in Lock Haven, PA, Good Samaritan in Paoli, PA and St. Marys in Stone Harbor, NJ. She was a member of St. Johns Episcopal Church in Lancaster, PA. at the time of her death Preceding her in death in addition to her husband were a son, James Frederick, a brother Charles of State College, PA, a brother Henry of Frye, ME and a brother Raymond Bell of Milwaukee, WI. Surviving are two daughters, Jeanne, wife of Curtis Cooke of Malvern, PA and Linda, widow of Walter Hendee of Stone Harbor, NJ; six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, August 20th at 11:00 am in the chapel of The Good Samaritan Church in Paoli, PA. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made in her name to the American Macular Degeneration Foundation, PO Box 515, Northampton, MA 01061 or the Alzheimers Association, Greater PA Chapter, 3544 N Progress Ave, Ste 205, Harrisburg, PA 17110. A reception at the church will follow internment.
