GURZENSKI, JR., MATTHEW A., of Cape May Court House NJ, passed away on September 10, 2017. Born in Philadelphia, PA to the late Matthew and Helen Czapla Gurzenski, Sr., he summered here for 30 years before moving here permanently 15 years ago. He was a retired police officer for the City of Philadelphia.
Mr. Gurzenski was a member of Our Lady of the Angels Church, the F.O.P. Lodge 5, and the Fraternal Association of Joseph Pilsudski, where he served as Secretary. He enjoyed playing and watching sports. He bowled for the F.O.P. and Fraternal Association of Joseph Pilsudski and played softball for the F.O.P. He was a CYO basketball coach at St. Adalbert’s and was known as Mr. Matt and Mr. G.
Mr. Gurzenski is survived by his wife of 56 years, Barbara (nee Olkowski); his daughter, Judy (Tom Raffa) Gurzenski; his son, Mark (Dawn) Gurzenski; and his grandchildren, Gia Nicole and TJ Raffa. He was preceded in death by his son, Matthew Gurzenski, III.
Memorial Mass will be said on Friday, September 15, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of the Angels Church, 35 East Mechanic Street, Cape May Court House, NJ 08210, where visitation will begin at 9:00 a.m. Inurnment will be at St. Mary’s Cemetery Mausoleum, 1056 Seashore Road, Cold Spring, NJ.
