GUHR, CHARLES “CHICK”, 82, of Wildwood Crest, NJ passed away at home after a lengthy illness surrounded by his family. Born as the son of an ornamental iron worker in Philadelphia and moving to Millville as a young boy, Chick spent his life dedicated to his family, community, and country that he loved. As a member of America’s Greatest Generation, he served in Europe with the 88th Blue Devils and upon his return to the states was appointed Provost Marshal for the Port of Baltimore. In early civilian life, he worked at Wheaton Glass while honing his financial skills, graduating the Taylor School of Business in Philadelphia. Continuing his public service, Chick proudly served eight years as Mayor and Commissioner of Revenue and Finance for the Borough of Wildwood Crest for 20 years. During his term in office he also served as President of both the Cape May County and New Jersey State Leagues of Municipalities and was honored by many organizations including the Government of Taiwan. He was twice appointed by Governor Whitman to serve as a member of the State’s Local Finance Boad reviewing the finances and ethics of all New Jersey public entities. Mr. Guhr was also a past president of the Wildwood Rotary Club and served for more than a decade as the organization’s scholarship chairman. As an entrepreneur, Chick was the founder and proprietor of Charles Guhr & Co. Office Outfitters. His many other enterprises included the historic Hotel Ocean Crest and Dining Room. An avid golfer, he was a member of the Wildwood Golf & Country Club. Chick enjoyed travel, good music, good food, as well as time spent with good friends and family. Mr. Guhr now resides with the Lord and awaits his reunion with his loving wife of 57 years, Kay, best buddy “Rusty”, son Chuck (Kathi), brothers Donald (Joan) of Bel Air, Maryland, Dale of Jupiter, Florida and sister Charlotte Mason of Seymour, Connecticut. Funeral services will be held 1 pm Friday, 11/19/2010 at the First United Methodist Church of Wildwod Crest, 6700 Atlantic Ave., Wildwood Crest where friends may call from 12 noon in the church. Interment will be in the Cape May County Veterans Cemetery, Middle Township, New Jersey. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory to the Wildwood Crest Fire Co. would be appreciated. TIPPING, ELIZABETH O. Elizabeth O. Tipping passed away on December 10, 2024. Beth was predeceased by her loving husband Joseph V. Tipping, Jr. in 2022, and is survived by her faithful companion, “Murphy.” She was a graduate of Little Flower Catholic High School in Philadelphia and Penn State in
