GRZESKIEWICZ, RICHARD STEPHEN, age 78, of Wildwood Crest passed away Monday, October 2, 2017 at Cape Regional Medical Center. Richard was born August 16, 1939 in Philadelphia, PA; formerly lived in that city; and has been a Cape May area resident for 20 years. He is the son of the late John and the late Jean Grzeskiewicz. Richard served his country in the US Army during the Vietnam War. He was employed by USDA in South Jersey as a Meat Inspector; and was a crossing guard at Crest Memorial School for 13 years, where he was also an assistant coach for the girl’s soft ball team and the boy’s basketball team. Richard was a member of the Norte Dame de la Mer Parish, Church of the Assumption in Wildwood Crest. He was a Life Member of the North Wildwood VFW Post 5941 and the Military Order of the Cootie Pup Tent 86; having served with great pride in each as Commander as well as VFW Cape May County District 17 Senior Vice Commander and Chaplin. He was known as the “Herald Newspaper Delivery Man” in Wildwood Crest. Richard is survived by his wife of 54 years Joan (nee Betlejewski); his daughter Linda (Mark) Gaydosh; and his sons: Richard (Beth Ann) & John (Carolyn) Grzeskiewicz. Also surviving are 7 grandchildren. There will be a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 AM on Saturday, October 7, 2017 at the Norte Dame de la Mer Parish, Church of the Assumption, 7110 Seaview Ave, Wildwood Crest, NJ 08260; where friends will be received from 10:00 to 11:00 AM. Interment will be private. The family suggests donations in Richard’s memory be made to the Crest Memorial School, Student Activity Fund, 9100 Pacific Ave, Wildwood, Crest, NJ 08260.
