GREENLAND, PAUL D., Sr., of Rio Grande, NJ passed away Tuesday, July 12, 2011. Paul was born in Philadelphia in 1924. He became a lifetime resident of Southern Cape May County starting in 1930. He graduated from Cape May High School in 1942 and then served in the 3rd Armored Division during World War II. He continued his military career with The New Jersey National Guard from 1949 to 1954. Paul Greenland then went on to own and operate Paul’s Arco Service Station on Rio Grande Avenue in Wildwood and then Cape Truck Center in North Wildwood for the next 35 years. Paul Greenland was a proud member of the Hereford Masonic Lodge from 1957 to present and served in various positions in the lodge including master, trustee and treasurer. He was past patron of The Wildwood Chapter of The Order of The Eastern Star. He was a member of The Cape May County Shrine Club serving as both president and trustee over the years. He was a member of The South Jersey Chapter of The Veterans of The Battle of The Bulge and took great pleasure in going to local high schools and educating our youth about World War II events. He was also active with the Cape May County National Guard Association. He is survived by his wife, Helen, of 61 years, sons, Paul David Jr. (Monica), George (Sue), a daughter, Sandra Daniels, a brother, Ronald Greenland, 6 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. He was also a member of The Shevlin Family Clan of The Wildwoods where everyone knew and loved him as Uncle Paul. Relatives and friends are invited to call on Sunday, July 17th, from 7pm to 9pm and Monday, July 18th, from 10am to 11am, a Service will be held at 11 am Monday at the Ingersoll-Greenwood Funeral Home, 1201 Central Ave., North Wildwood, NJ. Burial in Cape May County Veterans Cemetery, Middle Township, NJ.
