ENGLISH, JAMES W., JR., 75 of Ocean City, NJ passed away on November 23, 2015 at Cape Regional Medical Center in Cape May Court House, NJ. Born in Philadelphia, PA, he was formerly of Sea Isle City, NJ moving to Ocean City in 2013. He was a graduate of West Catholic High School in Philadelphia, PA, class of 1958 and worked in Public Works for the City of Sea Isle for 17 years retiring in 2008. Mr. English joined the Darby Volunteer Fire Company and was a member from 1961 until 1973 serving as Captain and Chief for Station #2. He was a member of Sea Isle City Volunteer Fire Company from 1973 until 2008. He was involved with the Boys Scouts of America for many years where he was a Scoutmaster for 25 years, serving on the Troop Committee for 17 years, and was Troop Advancement Chairman. He became Scoutmaster of Troop 76, Sea Isle City, in 1973 and guided 23 Scouts to the rank of Eagle. Mr. English received the District Award of Merit, the Silver Beaver Award and the James E. West Fellowship from the Southern New Jersey Council, BaySea District and was a Vigil Honor member of the Order of the Arrow. Mr. English was a member and Chairman of the Sea Isle City Recreation Committee, the Sea Isle Municipal Alliance Committee and served as a time keeper for Sea Isle Pee Wee Hockey Association. He was a member of Cannon Lodge #104 F. & A. M, of South Seaville, NJ and past member of the Cape May County Civil War Round Table. Surviving are three cousins, Fred, Elizabeth and Carolyn Hoot. His Funeral Service will be offered Sunday, December 6th at two o’clock in the afternoon from Sea Isle City United Methodist Church, 4102 Central Avenue, Sea Isle City, NJ where friends may call from one o’clock until the time of service.
