DOUGHTERY, PATRICIA A. (nee Steiger) , – on Tuesday, June 27, 2017, went to her eternal rest. Born on May 24, 1951 in Wildwood Crest, NJ. She attended both St. Ann’s Elementary School and graduated from Wildwood Catholic High School. Patsy lived in Rio Grande, NJ since 1979 and was a great influence to the kids and a friend to those in the community. She retired from the Cape May County Special Services School as the Executive Secretary to the Principal after 28 years in 2013. During her tenure at the school, Patsy made many friends and brought laughter and joy to all who worked and came in contact with her. To her friends outside of the school, she brought the same. Patsy is predeceased in death by her Father and Mother, Robert J. Steiger Sr. and Isabella A. (Pittaluga) Steiger, her paternal grandparents Giuseppe and Catherine Pittaluga and William and Marie Steiger, and her best friend, Margaret “Peggy” Kelly. She is survived by her loving sons, Erik (wife Kelly), Robert (wife Angele) and Patrick (wife Tamara), and her seven grandchildren, Sean, Elliana, Madison, Giada, Pia, Logan and Brock. Patsy also leaves behind her 9 brothers, Robert J. Steiger Jr. (Kathleen), John W. Steiger (Kathryn), Charles J. Steiger (Kimberly), Edward M. Steiger, Michael B. Steiger (Carol), William J. Steiger (Andrea), Joseph B. Steiger (Cathy), James R. Steiger (Bettina), and Eric J. Steiger (Jennifer) and her many beloved nieces and nephews, as well as great nieces and nephews. In her retirement years, Patsy and her Mom began making jewelry as a hobby. They spent many hours sharing their time together that Patsy cherished and missed so much after Mom passed in February of 2015: Sharing time with her children and grandchildren was something that Patsy loved and enjoyed. Never could it be said that she wasn’t a doting mother and grandmother.Patsy will be remembered by her family and friends for her bright smile, laughter, unselfishness, caring attitude and compassionate ways. Relatives and friends may call on Wednesday, July 5, 2017 from 9 AM to 11 AM at the Notre Dame de le Mer Catholic Church at 7100 Seaview Avenue in Wildwood Crest, NJ. A funeral Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 11 AM followed by interment at St. Mary’s Cemetery in West Cape May, NJ. In lieu of flowers, if you’d like, please make a donation to the American Heart Foundation (https://donatenow.heart.org/) in honor of Patricia Dougherty.
