DEMBECK, JOSEPH W.

DEMBECK, JOSEPH W., 69, of Cape May Court House, NJ passed away September 13, 2013. He was born in Philadelphia to John and Alice (McGowen) Dembeck and would serve in the U.S. Army National Guard. He joined the Philadelphia Police Force in 1969 and was stationed in the 14th district and served there for 26 years, including the first Mini Station in Philadelphia. His last assignment was in the Organized Crime/Intelligence Unit until his retirement in 2003 after serving for a total of 34 years. Joe’s dedication was recognized by many commendations and awards and he was the honored recipient of the prestigious 11th Annual George Fencil award. He also worked a security position at Chestnut Hill Academy until relocation to his paradise home in Cape May County in 2005. He is survived by his devoted wife Rita (nee MacBride); his loving children: Jill (Chad) Ormond, Jeannine (Eric) Ricchezza, Joseph Louis (Beth) Dembeck and Amy Guenkel; his sister Honey (Vince) Greco and brothers Jack and Frank Dembeck; his beloved grandchildren Chloe, Violet, Colin, Jake and Scarlett. Along with his parents, he was predeceased by his sister Alice Diano. Joe loved to fish, watch sports, and completing the NY Times crossword puzzle. He was a member of the Stone Harbor Lions Club and will be missed by his loyal dog “Spirit”. Funeral Services will be on Thursday, September 19, 2013 at 12 noon at Radzieta Funeral Home, 9 Hand Ave., Cape May Court House, NJ 08210. Viewing will begin at 11am. Interment is private.
