CURRAN, JAMES J., 97, of Wildwood Crest passed away peacefully on the evening of July 3rd, 2013. Devoted husband of the former Marie McClure (Curran) both were graduates of Wildwood High School class of 1935. He was one of the early volunteer members of North Wildwood Fire Co. #1, A member of the Knights of Columbus, Wildwood Civic Association, Wildwood Crest Historical Society, Wildwood Ambulance Corp., and the Arc of Cape May County. An avid reader he enjoyed traveling and visiting with his grandchildren. A former butcher with Curran’s Market in Wildwood, and longtime resident of the Wildwood’s he was a noted raconteur of the early history of Cape May County. A contributor of pictures and memorabilia to the Wildwood Historical Society he was known to hold forth at ” Woody’s” with stories of early prohibition and ” champagne island” He is survived by his daughter Marjorie Anne Curran Pashuck of Cape May and two sons, James S. Curran (Lauren) of Berwyn, Pa., and Richard J. Curran of Wildwood Crest, three grandchildren; Raymond John, Martin James (Jessica) of Manhattan and Mary Catherine Curran. Funeral Mass 10am Saturday July 13th at Notre Dame de la Mer Parish at St. Ann’s Church, 2900 Atlantic Ave., Wildwood, NJ where relatives and friends may call from 9am in the church. Burial in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Cape May, NJ. Memorials in his memory to Arc of Cape May County, PO Box 255, 822 Rt. 47, South Dennis, NJ 08249 or Save Wildwood Catholic Fund, 1500 Central Ave., N.
