CRESSE, MARY CLAIRE BENT, 85, of Cape May Court House, passed away on Saturday September 21 after a prolonged illness.
Mary was born in Darby, Pennsylvania on May 28, 1928, and moved to this area at 16. After attending Cape May High School, she married to Robert Clair Cresse and together they resided in Rio Grande for all of their married lives.
Mary was a part of a generation that experienced sweeping social changes, and Mary herself changed with the times.
She was active in many organizations, loved to travel and treasured her many lifelong close friendships.
A graveside service will be held on Friday, September 27, 2013 at 2:30 p.m. at the Cape May County Veterans Cemetery, 129 Crest Haven Road, Cape May Court House.
In lieu of donations or flowers, the family asks simply that you look around you. There is always someone in need and always a way to lend a hand in the community in which you live. Mary would like that.
Mary is survived by her children, Patricia Vandepol of Ohio, Barbara Cresse and her husband Douglas Fulford of Cape May Court House, Esther McPherson of Del Haven and Robert Clair Cresse Jr. and his wife Janet of Bolton, North Carolina, eleven grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and one great great-grandchild.
