CONNERTON, JOAN B., age 77, of Villas passed away on Sunday, May 8, 2011 at Crest Haven Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. Born in Philadelphia, PA to John & Marian Shalvey; she has been a Cape May area resident since 1987. After Joan graduated from West Philadelphia Catholic High School, she went to work as a secretary with Kelly Services. Although she worked at a variety of retail and office positions throughout her career; it was her most recent position as an office assistant at the Cape May County Technical School that held a special place in her heart. She worked there from 1989 to 2011. Joan was married to Daniel Connerton in 1954 and the couple lived in Philadelphia until moving to Villas, NJ. She was a caring and compassionate person who touched all of those who happened to come in contact with her honesty, sincerity, sense of humor, and her zest for life. Joan is survived by: her husband Daniel Connerton; her four children: John (Kelly) Connerton, Sharon (Mark) Meredith, Diane Stelacio, & David Connerton; and her sister Marian (Sister Gracemary) Shalvey. Also surviving are her six grandchildren: Patrick (Nicole) Connerton, Daniel (Samantha) Connerton, Mathew (Amanda) Connerton, AJ Stelacio, Denah Stelacio, David Connerton; and her two great grandchildren: Alexandria & Adrianna. There will be a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 AM on Saturday, May 21, 2011 at the Parish of St John Neumann at St Raymonds RC Church, Ocean & Bayshore Rd, Villas, NJ; where friends may call from 10:00 to 11:00 AM.
