CALLAHAN, JOHN “JACK”, 89, passed away with his family at his side. Jack will be remembered as an active member of the Holly Beach Fire Company for nearly 70 years, a roofer and jack-of-all trades, proprietor of Jacks Shack, 65-year member of the Men of Malvern, an active member of Notre Dame de la MarParish, an honorary member of the Michael P. Callahan Vietnam Veterans #955, honored to be associated with the Beschen-Callahan races. He was known for his love of card playing and telling Irish jokes. Jack is predeceased by loving wife, Betty; sons John and Michael; and is survived by two children, Timothy and Mary Whipkey (Colin), their children Patrick (Meghan), Molly Ridgway(Justin) and Shane, daughter-in-law Amy, grandchildren Colleen Baum (Scott), Jim (Colleen), John (Heather) and 8 great-grandchildren. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11am Saturday Jan. 25th at the Church of the Assumption, 7100 Seaview Ave., Wildwood Crest, NJ where friends may call from 9am in the church. Interment will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Lower Township, NJ. In lieu of flowers donation can be made to Camden Catholic High School Performing Arts, 300 Cuthbert Road, Cherry Hill, NJ 08002.
