BUCK, JANE A. (nee Stuski), 76, of Cape May, passed away peacefully into the arms of the Lord on Tuesday, July 9, 2013 at Cape Regional Medical Center, the result of suffering a fall on July 3rd. Jane was born on May 11, 1937 to the late Stanley and Helen (nee Dumond) Stuski in South Philadelphia and was raised in the Oxford Circle Section of Philadelphia. Although being diagnosed with Systemic Lupus Erythematous as a teenager, she attended Gwyenned Mercy Academy Grade and High School before taking a teaching position at St. Bartholomews in Philadelphia. Jane married Carl V. Buck, Jr. in June 1961. She moved from Philadelphia to the Villas in 1972 and later to Cape May in 1979. In the early 1960’s she and her husband Carl purchased “Jerry’s Place” in the Villas and operated grocery stores in the Villas and Rio Grande for many years. She later owned and operated The Frog Hollow Inn a bed and breakfast in Cape May. Jane was the cement of her family and was involved with the familys businesses and many charitable works. During her life, and particularly over the last several years, Jane enjoyed spending her winters in Puerto Rico with her husband until his death in 2007 and later with her loving sister, Patti Carty. Jane was a patient wife of 46 years to the late Carl V. Buck, Jr.; was devoted to her two children, Carl V. Buck III and his wife, Laurie of Mt. Laurel and Judith Buck of Cape May. “Nanny” as she was affectionately known, will be sorely missed by her adoring grandchildren, Conor Kennedy and Sarah and C.V. Peter Buck, IV; sisters, Patti Carty of Cape May, Marion (Paul) Gontarek of Philadelphia and Carol Stuski of Town Bank; brother-in-law, Norman (Myra) Hoffman of Cape May; brother-in-law, Kenneth (Maryann) Buck, Sr. of Brigantine; sister-in-law, Carol (Don) Wright of Cape May. Also survived by devoted friend, Eileen Haeber; cousin, Rev. Msgr. Michael T. Mannion, S.T.L., M.A.; former son-in-law, John Kennedy; her cousin, Catherine (nee Halbe) Brolly and members of the Halbe Family; many nieces and nephews and countless good friends. Jane was predeceased by her sister, Barbara Hoffman and brothers-in-law, James Kelly and Ed Carty. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday (July 15th) at 9:30AM in Our Lady Star of the Sea Church, 525 Washington St., Cape May where friends will be received one hour prior to Mass. Relatives and friends are also invited to gather in her memory on Sunday evening (July 14th) from 6PM 8PM in the Spilker Funeral Home, 815 Washington St., Cape May. Interment will be private and at a later date in St. Marys Cem., Cape May.
