BRIANT, RAYMOND

BRIANT, RAYMOND “CONRAD”, 77, passed away Tuesday, May 28, 2013 after an extended illness. Conrad was born in Pittsburgh, Pa. to the late Raymond and Lillian (Totten) Briant. He attended schools in Pittsburgh, Cape May and Oak Ridge, Tenn. He attended the University of Tennessee. Conrad began his career in the electrical and heating business working for his beloved uncle Charles Briant, and his cousin William Briant. Conrad was the owner of Briant Electrical, in Cape May. He later became the Electrical Department Director for Cape May County. He was a proud and dedicated member of the Cape May Volunteer Fire Department. He served many years as Deputy Fire Chief. He attended many Fire Training Schools, including the National Fire Academy, the New Jersey State Fire and Safety Training Schools, and many at the local level. His technical apparatus skills excelled, as he designed and wrote detailed specifications on the building of several of the Cape May Fire Department trucks. He served on the Cape May Planning Board, and the Cape May County Board of Appeals. Conrad was predeceased by his parents, and by his sister, Barbara Briant King. He will be sadly missed by his wife (of 57 years) Patricia King Briant; his sons, Raymond (and Sarah), and Andrew (and Kathy) Briant; his daughter, Lynne (and Jule) Hober; his grandchildren; many nieces, nephews and cousins; and his cats, especially Mr. Flubb. All are welcome to join Conrads family in celebrating his life on Thursday, June 6, 2013 at 7 PM at the West Cape May Fire House Hall, with visitation with family and friends to follow.
