BOORSE, SAMUEL S. JR. “JERRY”, 87, of Cape May Court House, passed away on Saturday, June 15, 2013 at the Ocean View Center. Born in Philadelphia to the late Samuel S. and Cora (Fischer) Boorse, Sr., he moved here 13 years ago from Prospect Park, PA. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II in the Asiatic-Pacific Campaign from July 12, 1943 to January 27, 1947. After his tour of duty with the Navy, he came home and married his high school sweetheart, Marian E. Bonawitz, and enjoyed 66 years of happiness together. Jerry attended the First Baptist Church in Cape May Court House and was a member of the Norwood VFW Post 7213 and the 11 Point Lodge. After retiring from Atlantic Richfield, he was a carpenter doing construction with his son. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and loved the Eagles and Phillies. He especially loved his country and flew the American Flag every day. He is survived by his wife, Marian; his children, Constance (Patrick) Broderick, Samuel “Woody” S. (Diane) Boorse, III, Jeffrey (Terry) Boorse, and Scott (Jen) Boorse; his brother, Donald (Dora) Boorse; his sisters, Beatrice (Raymond) Bushong and Grace Wolfenden; 11 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Memorial services will be held on Wednesday, June 19, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at the First Baptist Church, 101 Main Street, Cape May Court House, where visitation will begin at 10:30 a.m. Burial of cremated remains with military honors will be in the Cape May County Veterans Cemetery.
