BODIS, WILLIAM J., age 94, of Wildwood Crest, formerly of Hatboro, PA, and Cape May, NJ, passed away peacefully, at home February 14, 2014; surrounded by his family. He was born August 9, 1919 in Philadelphia, PA, and resided in the Hatboro area for many years before retiring to Cape May in 1984. Known by his family and some friends as Will, Bill was a graduate of Northeast High School in Philadelphia and attended Dobbins Vocational Technical School. He served in the US Navy during World War II as an Electricians Mate, Third Class aboard the submarine chaser, PCE 844; and saw duty in both the Atlantic and Pacific theatres. He was employed by General Electric for 24 years as a machinist at the Missile and Space Division in Philadelphia, retiring in June of 1984. He was a longtime member of The Baptist Temple in North Philadelphia, which relocated to Blue Bell, PA and became the Grace Baptist Church of Blue Bell. Bill had a lifelong interest in audio equipment and enjoyed listening to all types of music. Mr. Bodis enjoyed spending time with his family, gardening, and watching televised Philadelphia Phillies games. He will be most remembered for his witty sense of humor and for being a warm and loving father, grandfather, and great grandfather. He is survived by his daughter, Carol Saldutti (Jim) of Wildwood Crest, and his sister, Viola Bergson of Doylestown, PA. He is also survived by his three grandchildren: Brian (Jamie) Saldutti, Sherri (Vinnie) Carannante, and Gary (Kate) Saldutti; three great grandchildren: Bennett, Carina, & Kenneth; and many nieces and nephews. Mr. Bodis was predeceased by his wife of 65 years Mary (nee Turner); his parents Rose (nee Farkas) and Stephen J Bodis, Sr.; his sisters: Margaret Yost and Helen Bauer; and his brother Stephen Bodis, Jr. Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, February 19, 2014 at the Evoy Funeral Home, 3218 Bayshore Rd, North Cape May, NJ. Relatives and friends will be received at 10 AM. Burial will be at the Cape May County Veterans Cemetery.
