BIMBO, IDA L. PALIOTTA,

BIMBO, IDA L. PALIOTTA, 96, of North Wildwood, NJ passed away Friday August 30, 2013 at home. She was born in the Bronx, NY on September 15, 1916 to Paul Sam and Rosa Maddelena Paliotta. After graduating from Theodore Roosevelt HS in the Bronx in 1934, she worked as a secretary for a financial magazine, and as a bookkeeper for a Manhattan credit house. She married Nicholas J. Bimbo on August 25, 1940. She was a summer resident of North Wildwood from 1949 until 1956 eventually moving there in 1958. They owned and operated Nicks Sandwich Shop on 7th and New Jersey Ave. in North Wildwood from 1959 to 1978 where she was affectionately known as Mrs. Nick. After the death of her husband in 1978 she worked for the Dept. of Aging as Nutrition Manager of the North Wildwood Senior Center from June 1980 until November 2003. She then transferred to the Lower Cape May Senior Center and retired after 25 years in July 2005. She was a member of St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Wildwood and served on the Parish Council; she organized, was a member of and President of the Legion of Mary for 17 years; Treasurer of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Knights of Columbus North Wildwood; Regent and Treasurer of the Catholic Daughters, Wildwood Center, and a member of St. Ann’s Parish Blessed Mother Sodality. She was a member and past Treasurer of the North Wildwood Republican Club, and a member of the Wheeler Dealer Square Dancing Group at the North Wildwood Senior Center. She was pre-deceased by her husband, her parents, and 11 sisters and brothers. She is survived by her four children; Roseanne Fittipaldi (Richard) of Hammonton, NJ, Lucille DeHorsey (Steve) of North Wildwood, Joe Bimbo (Jeanne) of Erma, NJ, and Anthony Bimbo (Shirley) of Kilmarnock, Virginia. She is also survived by her close friend and Sister In-law, Dorothy Bimbo of Bronx, NY; 12 Grandchildren and 15 Great Grandchildren. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 AM Friday Sept, 6 in Notre Dame de la Mer Parish at St. Anns Church, 2901 Atlantic Ave., Wildwood, NJ where friends may call from 9:00 AM in the church. Interment will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, in Cold Spring, NJ. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in her name, to the charity of your choice.
