BEBLER, ROLAND F. “Beb”, 84, of North Wildwood, Cape May Court House, and a resident of Eastern Shore Nursing Home passed away February 23, 2014, and went to be with the Lord. He was surrounded by his family. He was predeceased by his parents William and Marie Bebler, his beloved wife of 53 years Jane, and his son John in 2013. He is survived by his children, Louise Coront ( best son-in-law Michael), and Joanne Schaible, Wayne ( Debbie) ; and his granddaughters Jess Catania ( Vic) and Michelle Dawn Mooney ( Dean Bult), a great-granddaughter Amelia Catania, and his daughter-in-law Gail Bebler. He is also survived by his sisters Ann Sharff ( Harry), Lily Lou Murray, his brother Bill Bebler; and his sisters-in-law Helen Karn ( Steve), Ruth MacDonald ( Roland), and Isle Gravener, also many nieces and nephews. Roland was raised in Germantown and served in the US Army. Roland and his wife moved to North Wildwood after getting married where he lived for close to 60 years and where they raised their four children before moving to Cape May Court House. He was on the North Wildwood Police Department before retiring in 1978 after 26 years of service at the rank of Detective Sergeant. He was a life member of the NW Volunteer Fire Co. #1, and a lifetime member of the NJ State Volunteer Firefighters Association, member of the PBA Local # 59, the retired Police/Firefighters Association, the Cape Island Masons # 30, Greater Wildwood Elks Lodge # 1896, and the First Presbyterian Church of Wildwood for 60 years, also serving on the North Wildwood Board of Education. During the summer months he could be seen on the beach selling ice cream for many years and was known as “Mr.B, the Fudgy Wudgy Man” and had a loyal following. He was an avid sports fan especially The Phillies #1 fan, also liked college sports, and supported the Wildwood High Sports program. Roland and his wife loved traveling throughout the United States, with spending a lot of time in Florida and Hawaii. Roland especially loved being with family and friends while keeping everyone up on what was going on everywhere. Funeral services will be held 11am Thursday 2/27/14 at the First Presbyterian Church of Wildwood, Burk & Pacific Aves. in Wildwood where friend may call from10am in the church. There will also be a viewing Wednesday evening 6 to 8 pm at the Ingersoll-Greenwood Funeral Home, 1201 Central Ave., North Wildwood, NJ. Interment will be in the Cape May County Veterans Cemetery, Middle Township, NJ.
