BATTS, HELEN MAE, 84, of Wildwood Crest, NJ, passed away peacefully on August 30, 2013 with her loving family by her side. Born and raised in Palmyra, NJ, she moved to Wildwood Crest when she married her husband, Jim Batts, who predeceased her in 1991. She was born on Christmas Eve 1928, to the late Emma and Edward Schlichting. She graduated from Palmyra High School and started work as a secretary for RCA Victor in Camden, NJ. After she married, she worked alongside her husband at their store, Batts Luncheonette and Ice Cream Shop in Wildwood Crest. For the majority of her life she focused on creating a warm and loving home for her family. She is survived by her niece, Merideth (Michael) Fiorucci, nephew, Scott (Amy) Reef, both of Cape May Court House, NJ, nephew Drew (Michelle) Reef of Coatesville, PA, and cousin Guy (Barbara) Jensen of Wildwood Crest; as well as her treasured great nephews and nieces Michaela, Evan, Drew, Jordan, Haley, Trevor, Brianna, Emma, Jenna, Colin, Mase and Lindsey. She is predeceased by her dear sons, Jim and Brian, and beloved sister, Ann Reef. Helen was a gifted artist and enjoyed exhibiting at art shows with her sister, Ann. She also had a deep love for the seashore and spent many summer days at the beach swimming in the ocean, or collecting shells and driftwood. The sea was a major inspiration for her artwork which was also exhibited in a Stone Harbor gallery. Helen was a wonderful blessing to her family and to everyone who knew her. She will always be remembered for her kind and loving spirit, her warm smile and sparkling blue eyes. A service of memory and love will be offered on Saturday, September 7, 2013 at 11:00 AM, at Radzieta Funeral Home, 9 Hand Avenue, Cape May Court House, NJ. Burial will be private.
