She was born on Christmas Eve 1928, to the late Emma and Edward Schlichting. She graduated from Palmyra High School and started work as a secretary for RCA Victor in Camden, NJ. After she married, she worked alongside her husband at their store, Batts Luncheonette and Ice Cream Shop in Wildwood Crest. She also had a deep love for the seashore and spent many summer days at the beach swimming in the ocean, or collecting shells and driftwood. The sea was a major inspiration for her artwork which was also exhibited in a Stone Harbor gallery. Helen was a wonderful blessing to her family and to everyone who knew her. She will always be remembered for her kind and loving spirit, her warm smile and sparkling blue eyes. A service of memory and love will be offered on Saturday, September 7, 2013 at 11:00 AM, at Radzieta Funeral Home, 9 Hand Avenue, Cape May Court House, NJ. Burial will be private.
