ASSELTA, MARY ROSE (NEE SMANIOTTO), St. Augustine, born Feb. 1, 1914, died peacefully with her daughter Trish at her side, of natural causes on May 15, 2011, at 97 years of age. She was married to Michael J. (Duffy) Asselta, deceased, and they operated the famous Duffinettis Italian Resturant in the Crest. Until her recent sickness she was up every day showered and dressed, working in her garden & cooking for her family, living in her ground floor apartment at Trish’s St Augustine home. When asked what she thought of Obama she would look you square in the eye & say “He spends too much money”. Two years ago she was the oldest recipient of by-pass surgery in the history of Flagler Hospital. Mary is survived by three children, Michael, Robert and Patricia all of St. Augustine, FL; four grandchildren: Donna, Nick, Allison, and Dave; six great-grandchildren; and three brothers, Dominick, John, and Albert.
