Obituary

ABADIE (NEE QUINN), EILEEN

ABADIE (NEE QUINN), EILEEN M., 89, of Villas, NJ, formerly of Cape May and Cape May Court House, passed away peacefully at home on September 15, 2017. Our beloved mother, grandmother and aunt was born and raised in Philadelphia, PA by the late John J. and Bessie (O’Callaghan) Quinn, sister to Bill Quinn and the late Jack Quinn and Betty Henderson. Predeceased by son William K. Abadie III, husband William K. Abadie, Jr, companion Louis A. Rodia, Jr, and granddaughter Nicole Rodia, Eileen is survived by children Michael Abadie, Timothy Abadie, Kathleen Hewitt (Shelby), William Abadie and Shawn Abadie (Lisa). She relished being fun-loving Aunt Eileen to the Hendersons, and held a special place in her heart for Floyd and Irma Brown, along with their son Allen. Being a grandmother was one of the greatest joys of Eileen’s life and she will be forever in the hearts of Samantha, Christopher and Lauren Hewitt, Andrew Abadie, Kayla and Megan Abadie, Rachel Rodia, Emily and Michael Rodia. Eileen graduated from West Catholic Girls’ High School in Philadelphia in 1945, married Bill in 1950 and told everyone that she came to Cape May on her honeymoon and never left. After 22 years of marriage, she lost Bill far too soon, focused on raising their 5 kids and went on to find another 30 years of happiness and adventure with Lou. Throughout her life she never failed to help anyone in need, whether they knew it or not. Eileen was a force, could always see the good in every person, and believed life was about being happy, no matter what. In her own words, “Eileen was here. Now, she’s not.” Eileen’s memorial ceremony will be held on Thursday (Sept. 21st) at 11am in the Spilker Funeral Home, 815 Washington St., Cape May, where friends will be received from 10am until 11am. Interment will follow in St. Mary’s Cem., Cape May. In honor of their mother and father, Eileen’s family requests in lieu of flowers, memorial donations to the Love of Linda Cancer Fund through https://www.inmemoryof-memorial.org/eileen-abadie Info and condolences: www.spilkerfuneralhome.com
