North Wildwood VFW Announces Essay Contest Winners

NORTH WILDWOOD – North Wildwood Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) Post 5941 announced the winners of the VFW’s Patriot’s Pen essay contest. The theme for this year’s contest was “America’s Gift to My Generation.”
According to a release, first-place winners from the Wildwoods are Micah E. Rucci, a senior at Wildwood Catholic High School; eighth grader Christian R. Harkins and seventh grader Kartrina M. Frey from Cape Trinity Catholic; eighth grader Jackson T. Hesley, seventh grader Brenna Farrell, and sixth grader Lisa J. Cherifi from Crest Memorial School, and eighth grader Kara M. McLaughlin from Margaret Mace School.
All winners moved to the Cape May County judging levels in which McLaughlin placed first in the competition, grades six to eight. She will proceed to the state level judging from Cape May County for the New Jersey entry winner.
The following students from Crest Memorial School also received awards: sixth grader Lance Lillo, second place; seventh grader Mariann Kurtz, second place; and eighth grader Emily Little, second place.
