WILDWOOD CREST – Lisa Simms of the New Jersey Tree Foundation will be the guest speaker at the upcoming meeting of the Borough of Wildwood Crest Green Team July 24, at 2 p.m. at Wildwood Crest Borough Hall.
Simms will present, “Right Tree, Right Place,” which will focus on tree planting on residential property in the borough; which trees are best in Wildwood Crest’s sandy, salty environment; the best time to plant; how to plant with respect to needed soil and minerals; and how much water is needed for planted trees.
The Wildwood Crest Green Team is dedicated to reversing the trend of the decrease in curbside trees in the borough.
Trees have proven to be essential to the environment for a variety of reasons, including beautification; the reduction of water runoff during rainstorms; the release of oxygen into the air; the supply of shade for walkers, runners and pedestrians; and the reduction of heating and cooling costs.
The meeting is open to the public. No registration is necessary.
