By Press Release

COURT HOUSE – Cape May County 4-H is excited about a new year of fun, friends and learning. The new 4-H year kicked off on September 1 and 4-H clubs are reorganizing and enrolling new members at cmc4h.com. All youth from kindergarten to one year out of high school are welcome.
Cape May County 4-H Clubs will be showcased at two Open Houses this fall. Come meet 4-H members and learn about the variety of clubs offered in Cape May County on Saturday, October 6th and Saturday, October 13th from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the 4thAnnual 4-H Corn Maze and Pumpkin Patch at Lehner’s Farm & Nursery, 175 Route 47 South, Cape May Court House, New Jersey.
What makes 4-H unique?  4-H is real-life experience. Members learn how to do tasks and make decisions that prepare them for adult life. These are called life skills. “Using life skills, members learn how to manage their resources, work together in groups, develop critical thinking skills and communicate with others,” says Linda Horner, Cape May County 4-H Program Coordinator.
Families are an important part of the 4-H program. Parents, brothers, sisters and other members of the family can learn new skills and adopt new ideas by being a part of the 4-H program. 4-H is adaptable to each individual, each home and each community.
4-H clubs also get involved in community service activities designed to improve the circumstances in their community. Through activities like cleaning up neighborhoods and beaches or assisting with local food pantries, 4-H members learn citizenship and leadership skills.
The 4-H Youth Development Program is part of the New Jersey Agricultural Experiment Station and the Rutgers Cooperative Extension. 4-H educational programs are offered to all youth grades K – 13 on an age-appropriate basis, without regard to race, religion, color, natural origin, gender, sexual orientation or disability.
