CAPE MAY – The week ahead from the Nature Center of Cape May from Oct. 17 through Oct. 26.
Oct. 17:
• Harborside Chat features the legendary “Philly Bill Culp” from WIBBAGE radio, 94.3. For those who came of age during the 60’s and 70’s near Philly, this will be a time of remembrance. For those who did not, this will be your opportunity to meet the legend himself. Begins at 6:00.
Oct. 18:
• Mommy and Me Children’s Program at the Nature Center begins at 10:30
• Full Moon Campfire & story telling begins at 6:00 (Dress warm)
Oct. 19:
• Cape May Harbor Beach Sweep and community clean-up, 9:00 to Noon. Show up early at 7:00 a.m. (ouch) and work with Coast Guard recruit volunteers.
• Birds, Birds, Birds: Sam Wilson’s interpretive nature walks for all ages, 9:30 a.m., call for details.
Oct. 23:
• Upcycle Craft work shop for home and garden, at the Nature Center begins at 7:00 p.m.
Oct. 24:
• Harborside Chat features New Jersey Audubon’s very own VP of Education, Dale Rosselet who will discuss Cape May’s close affiliation with the activity and passion of bird watching, and the efforts being made to designate Cape Island as a certified Community Habitat.
Oct. 25:
• Autumn Weekend, the Bird Show. Open House Weekend begins at 9:00
• Mommy and Me Children’s Program at the Nature Center begins at 10:30
Oct. 26:
• Youth Birding Series: All-day special program begins at 8:00
• Autumn Weekend, the Bird Show and Open House continues at 9:00
Remember, the Nature Center is hosting themed nature walks on the 3rd Saturday of each month beginning on Oct. 19 and running through March, 2014. Walks will be led by Naturalist, Sam Wilson and October’s theme will be “Birds, Birds, Birds!”
