SEA ISLE CITY – During their annual Holiday Luncheon on Dec. 14, the members of AARP Chapter 710 honored Monica Santarcangelo of Sea Isle City as their 2017 Volunteer of the Year.
Born in South Philadelphia, Mrs. Santarcangelo is a past member of Saint Richards Catholic Church in South Philly, where she was an active member of the Parish and also served on the local Board of Education for 20 years.
After owning a vacation home for several decades in Sea Isle City, she and her husband, Rocky, moved to Sea Isle permanently 17 years ago. At that time, Mrs. Santarcangelo began sharing her talents and love for people by working as a cafeteria volunteer at the Saint Joseph Regional School.
Currently, Mrs. Santarcangelo is the Chairperson of the Saint Joseph Church Bereavement Ministry in Sea Isle City, where she helps families plan funerals and make accommodations for their deceased loved ones. She is also a Eucharistic Minister at Saint Joseph Church, she is the Chairperson for AARP Chapter 710’s Sunshine Committee and she assists organizers during AARP social events. Additionally, she is an occasional volunteer at the Holy Redeemer Food Bank in Clermont.
Mrs. Santarcangelo and her husband have been married for 59 years. They have two children, four grandchildren and one great grandson (age 8 months).
