PETERSBURG – On Feb. 27, at 2 p.m., Upper Township Middle School warmly welcomes an appearance from Miss America 2018, Cara Mund. Cara will address students in a school-wide assembly concerning “Educational Empowerment.”
Mund is an Ivy League Honors Graduate from Brown University headed to law school at Notre Dame.
At age 14, Mund founded North Dakota’s Annual Make-A-Wish Fashion Show. For 10 years, Mund has brightened 23 Wish Kids’ lives, became a “Certified Wish Granter,” and raised over $78,500 for Make-A-Wish.
In 2011, President Barack Obama recognized Mund’s charitable efforts. Mund is a national dance champion and trained four summers with the Radio City Rockettes. Mund’s recent work in the United States Senate and her passion for helping others ignited her own wish, to become the first Miss America from North Dakota.
Mund will share with students her career ambitions, volunteer efforts, fundraising work, and equal rights empowerment. She will receive questions from students concerning current events and pop culture.
