My name is Colby Schalek and I am a member of the Milky Ways 4-H Livestock Club. Let me introduce our club to you. Our club leader is Marcie Hughes and the co-leaders are Jess and Ben Anaya. The members are Kristin Hughes, Nick Schalek, Jimmy Papperman, Tessa Wozunk, Simon Allay, Lexi Anaya, Drew Ludman, our newest member Hannah Wright and me, Colby Schalek.
We meet the 2nd and 4th Thursdays of the month and do many activities. We have done road side clean-ups, visits to nursing homes, collected items for care packages for local hospitals, participated in parades and the 4-H Corn Maze. Our meetings are fun and informational, too.
We have a variety of animals in our club including pigs, goats, lambs, rabbits, chickens and ducks. The theme for this year is, “4-H will take you places.” 4-H can take you many places, and it surely has taken the members in my club to many places. I hope to see you at our next meeting, but if you’re not there, come see us at the polka dot booth at the fair for ice cold water and a frozen snack!
