COURT HOUSE — Middle Township is seeking residents with an interest in landscaping and environmental preservation to serve on its Shade Tree Commission. Potential members must be residents of Middle Township and available to attend regularly scheduled meetings.
The Shade Tree Commission was established to assist the township in protecting and managing its trees and woodlands for the benefit of its residents. In conjunction with Middle Township’s Public Works Department, the Shade Tree Commission regulates, plants, cares for and controls shade and ornamental trees and shrubbery along the streets, highways and public places of the township.
Middle Township recently received a $382,500 No Net Loss grant through The New Jersey Forest Service which provides for the planting of 1,275 trees within the township. These trees are meant to replace trees lost due to the Parkway Interchange Project. The Shade Tree Commission will play a vital role in determining the types and locations of the trees.
Volunteers interested in serving on the Shade Tree Committee are encouraged to contact Kaytie Keating via kkeating@middletownship.com or (609) 465-8742.
