Deputy Mayor Jeff DeVico is helping push Middle Township ahead with major improvements to its streets, sidewalks, parks and playgrounds. “Local government is about keeping residents safe with a strong public safety apparatus. It’s also about making sure our streets are well maintained and our parks and playgrounds offer the community meeting space that our families and seniors can enjoy,” said DeVico.
Looking at this year’s accomplishments, DeVico pointed to the extensive street paving projects on Shell Bay Avenue, Beaver Dam Road, Turtle Thorofare, Church Street, Joffre Avenue, New Jersey Avenue, Pennsylvania Avenue and South 2nd Avenue. DeVico said, “Everyone wants safe, smooth and attractive streets to drive and residents consistently express their pleasure with all the progress we are making with our aggressive street paving program.” DeVico is also anticipating that Del Haven will shortly have access to water under a proposed agreement with the Lower Township Municipal Utilities Authority. “Bringing residents in Del Haven water lines has been a priority for the township and I’m glad to see that we’re just about there,” DeVico said.
DeVico also pointed to the applause residents are giving to the Township’s commitment to its recreation program with the enhancements to parks and playgrounds. The list includes the completion of Ockie Wisting Park that held its first two concerts this year. Significant improvements were made to the Goshen facility and the township is seeing big savings for projects that are being funded by grants.
“The township has secured $1.3 million grant money for the Rio Grande Park, another two grants totaling $600,000 to reconstruct the Avalon Manor fishing pier and $120,000 for new tennis courts at the Martin Luther King complex. The township is simply doing a marvelous job with its grant applications and I applaud our dedicated professionals, staff and my colleagues for the taxpayer savings we are seeing. And I’m proud to be part of the Middle Township team that is making good things happen,” DeVico concluded.
