COURT HOUSE – At the Middle Township Performing Arts Center, the New Jersey Theatre Alliance will present George Street Playhouse’s production of “Austin the Unstoppable” March 7 at 10 a.m. This event is part of the Alliance’s Stages Festival, the state’s largest annual theatre festival that provides free and discounted theatre events for all ages throughout the month of March. This event is free.
Eleven-year-old Austin, master of the Xbox and a junk-food junkie, must face the long-term consequences of an unhealthy lifestyle when he learns that his mother has been diagnosed with type II diabetes. This fun, upbeat musical engages audiences in the benefits of a healthy diet and exercise by celebrating how positive change can occur through the power of love, hard work, and support. This performance is appropriate for children in kindergarten through third grade.
The Stages Festival offers dozens of performances, workshops, classes, and events at theatres, art centers, libraries, schools, senior centers, and other community venues throughout the state. The program was developed to encourage New Jersey’s residents to attend their local professional theatres by making the experience affordable, accessible, and fun. Since its inception 20 years ago, the program has served over 190,000 people.
