CAPE MAY – The Mid-Atlantic Center for the Arts & Humanities (MAC) has presented its 2014 Paul Aiken Encore Award to the Cape May County Open Space Board.
Shown here, from left, MAC Director Michael Zuckerman, MAC Board Trustee Shirley (“Becki”) Wilson, Cape May County Open Space Chairperson Peter Lomax, Cape May County Freeholder Will Morey and MAC Board President Mary McKenney, at the South Jersey Cultural Alliance’s Encore Awards Gala May 29, at the LeVoy Theater in Millville. The award recognizes the Cape May County Open Space Board for the visionary step of dedicating a portion of its funding to a historic preservation grant program. “At a time when other funding sources for historic preservation have, sadly, dried up, this new funding stream for bricks-and-mortar projects will provide a major boost to our collective efforts to preserve our historic landmarks,” Zuckerman said. “We wish to thank the leaders of the Cape May County Open Space Board — Freeholder Will Morey, Chairperson Peter Lomax and Planning Director Leslie Gimeno — along with the other members of the board, David Clemans, David Craig, Michael McLaughlin and Jim Shroder.”
