MAC Annual Meeting Set for Nov. 6

By Press Release

CAPE MAY – The Mid-Atlantic Center for the Arts & Humanities (MAC) will host its Annual Meeting Sun., Nov. 6 at 3:30 p.m. at the Cape May Lutheran Church, 509 Pittsburgh Ave., and the public is invited to attend.
MAC’s Honor Award will be given to MAC Board Member Barbara Heim, the winner of the Cape May Getaway raffle will be chosen, Scarecrow Alley awards will be presented, and the meeting will include an informative and entertaining presentation of MAC events and activities in 2011.
MAC is proud to present the 2011 MAC Honor Award to outgoing board member Barbara Heim. For the past nine years, Heim has been a key board liaison to the MAC corps of 300 volunteers. As president of the Cape May Community Women’s Club when she joined the board, she helped recruit many club members to volunteer for MAC. Leading by example, she can often be found volunteering in the front ranks of MAC activities — the Designer Show Houses being a particular favorite — while her husband, Cliff, has long been a volunteer walking tour guide. It’s been in her service on MAC’s Volunteer Team, however, where Heim has most made her mark. She’s taken the lead in organizing annual Volunteer Recognition Receptions, has spoken at numerous volunteer orientation events and helped spearhead one of MAC’s most successful new initiatives – the Volunteer of the Month program.
What was the year 2011 like for MAC? You’ll find out at the year-in-review presentation, an entertaining slide show of the past year at MAC presented by MAC Director Michael Zuckerman.
The winner of the Cape May Getaway raffle will receive $2,500 worth of Cape May gift certificates, which can be used at a wide variety of Cape May accommodations, restaurants, retail stores and attractions any time of the year, plus gift certificates to area shops and restaurants, and tours and event tickets.
The prizes for the Scarecrow Alley winners will be awarded in various categories. The People’s Choice Award of $200 will be given to the scarecrow with the most votes. The first place winner in the “Individuals or Families” category will receive $100; the winner in the “Business” category will receive a display ad on MAC’s website; the winner in the “Non-profits, Churches, Clubs, Scouts” category will receive a pizza party for their group; and the winners in the “School Class” category will receive a pizza party for their class.
The Annual Meeting is free and open to the public. Light refreshments will be served.
The Mid-Atlantic Center for the Arts & Humanities (MAC) is a multifaceted not-for-profit organization committed to promoting the preservation, interpretation, and cultural enrichment of the Cape May region for its residents and visitors. MAC membership is open to all.
