Lower Township Recognizes Selfless Acts of Kindness

Kindness

By Press Release

VILLAS – The Lower Township Council recognized Dottie Crawford, a retired Lower Township dispatcher, and Jim Diettrich, a retired DARE officer with the police department, for their volunteer work in creating and managing the “Kids Christmas” program for the last 39 years.
Crawford was known as “Mrs. Claus” and Deittrich began the program in 1976 by assisting one family and three children. Their hard work enabled the program to grow and in 2015, Kids Christmas was able to assist 26 families and 525 children this year.
Although the event culminates during the Christmas holiday, it is a year-round event with fund raisers, food collections, working with the volunteer fire department on logistics and enlisting the help of other good Samaritans.
