VILLAS — The Lower Township Municipal Utilities Authority (LTMUA) invites their neighbors in the East Villas Water Main Improvement Project (Phase 1) to attend an informational meeting on financing options to connect to the city water system. The meeting will take place at 6 p.m. on Tues., Oct. 4, 2016 at Township Hall, 2600 Bayshore Road.
Representatives from the LTMUA, NJ HMFA (Housing and Mortgage Finance Agency) and the USDA will provide information and assistance to homeowners on obtaining low interest loans and grants to fund the expense of connection.
The project includes the installation of 27,000 LF of water main and will provide over 550 residents from East Miami Avenue to Fulling Mill Road with clean, potable water. Construction began on July 5, 2016 and is expected to be completed by Jan. 1, 2017. The LTMUA is committed to improving the quality of life of its neighbors and plans to extend water service to an additional estimated 500 homes in Villas following completion of the first phase of the project.
“Times are tough,” said Mike Chapman, Executive Director of the MUA. “We want residents to be aware of programs available to help them and to know that we’re here to make their transition to city water as smooth as possible.” Chapman credits Board Member, Steve Sheftz, with organizing the 10/4 meeting. “Mr. Sheftz first brought these programs to light in the Township and continues to work to make water affordable to all its residents.”
Information is available on the Authority’s website at www.ltmua.org for those unable to attend the meeting.
