CAPE MAY — Lower Cape May Regional High School Advanced Art students present a showing of their paintings in conjunction with the High School Choir and Band Winter Concert at the Performing Arts Center on Tues., Dec. 20 beginning at 6:00 p.m.
Mrs. Patricia Neville and Mrs. Sandra Beane-Fox joined forces to do a cross-curricular project; art 3 and 4 students based their paintings on the interpretation of one of the songs that will be featured in the annual Winter Concert. The song that was chosen, Adiemus, has a new age feel to it and the language sung is fictitious which helped art students to use free association to create their abstract paintings. Colors, shapes, lines, textures and patterns come together to evoke the sounds, moods and rhythms of the music. In addition to listening to the music, art students were introduced to some of the pioneers of abstract modern art, Vasily Kandinsky, Piet Mondrian, and Sonia Delaunay.
The Winter Concert will take place immediately following the reception of the art show promptly at 7 p.m. Both shows are open to the public, come out for an enchanting evening.
