The Lower Cape May Regional High School Afterschool 4-H Club ended the year with a SPLASH at our annual pool party. The year began with some much needed barn work – a new solar fence line and horse stall mats. We took apart and winterized the vegetable garden beds and prepared the greenhouse for the upcoming cold. 4-Hers learned to use the wood splitter to prepare the outdoor fire pit for our winter party. The winter months were full of service projects like our annual Christmas wrapping party and the Christmas box sendoff. In February, we educated the Lower Cape May Regional students about Black History Month and the use of Ceremonial Masks through history to celebrate an upcoming harvest. Made from all natural products, the 4-H group created beautiful masks to decorate the halls of the school during the holiday month. We received a new little addition to our 4-H farm, “John” the mini horse. The kids had a great time creating and building a new run in stall for him out of recycled pallets, though he doesn’t use it! He prefers to be with the girls! It was a lot of fun to build and I think we will use it for a hay feeding bin now! This year, we took some time to learn how to shoot balloons with a bow and arrow. Fletcher’s Corner was the BEST! We had a blast. Before graduation, we went to the movies to see the “Jungle Book,” our last big trip together before we said goodbye to our 4-H senior friends as they go off to college. We ended our year, as always, with a big pool party and barbeque. I would like to say thank you to my 4-H group this year, they were awesome! It was one of my best years as a 4-H Youth Leader. I will miss my seniors and hope that they return to help me rebuild our fabulous 4-H program at Lower Cape May Regional High School. Best wishes and much love to all of you.

Cape May County – I’d like to suggest to the Herald that they leverage spout offs draw and replace some of the ads for their paper with a few paid ads that you probably can charge a little extra for. Lots of people…
