Beat the Clock Against Breast Cancer / Scholarship 2 Mile Walk / 5K Run is sponsored by Delta Chapter of DKG Society International which promotes professional and personal growth of women educators and excellence in education. This year’s event took place on Sept. 29 in Stone Harbor. It was attended by approximately 50 participants and seven cancer survivors. Since the first race in 2003, the Delta Chapter has funded its $1,000 scholarship annually and contributed over $100,210 to the American Cancer Society, with the help of matching funds from the pharmaceutical companies, anonymous donors and other businesses. This year’s donation is estimated to be over $3,000.
